Through this collaboration, students who complete an associates degree at AWC can seamlessly transition to bachelor’s degree programs offered at UA Yuma or explore other University of Arizona transfer options helping you become part of the Wildcat family while staying in Yuma.
U of A Yuma offers many transfer degree pathways in varying fields, like Engineering, Nutrition, Human Development, and Agriculture, all designed to help you complete your degree locally. A Streamlined Transfer Experience
Arizona Western College and the University of Arizona work collaboratively to support your transfer journey. With compatible course descriptions and approved block transfers, approved AWC associates degrees may fulfill the first two years of most U of A undergraduate programs, helping you stay on track to graduate within three years of transferring.
Students may also receive invitations to exclusive transfer events and activities, thanks to shared student data between AWC and UA for the purpose of enhancing student success.
Please note: All students must still complete the University of Arizona admissions application to officially transfer.
Steps for a successful transfer to UA
Select a Major and Degree
- Choose the major and degree you plan to pursue at AWC along with your intended university program.
- Seek guidance that aligns your choice with your interests and career goals through AWC Career Services.
- Review AWC Degrees and Certificates.
- Use Arizona Western College Major Guides from AZTransfer.com to explore transfer pathways.
Meet with AWC Advisors and Transfer Personnel
- Review your AWC academic plan and transfer timeline with Academic Advisors and Transfer Personnel.
- Meet with an AWC Academic Advisor to review your degree requirements.
- Schedule an appointment with the Transfer Services Coordinator for transfer planning and support.

- Search for transfer pathways for AWC or visit the college website for additional guides to map transfer coursework.

Complete the AGEC and Your Degree
- The Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) transfers as a block to UAZ and provides a strong foundation for your major.
- Completing your AWC degree aligned with your intended program ensures a seamless transfer.
- Meet with an AWC Academic Advisor regularly to review your progress.
- Reminder: Submit your AWC graduation application by the posted deadline.
Apply for University Admission
- Submit your UAZ admissions application six to nine months before your intended transfer date or as soon as applications open for your transfer term.
- Work with UAZ representatives during this process for support.
- Electronic high school transcripts should be submitted to admissions@arizona.edu.
Request your AWC official transcript from AWC Student Records.
Circle Back with AWC and University Personnel
- Confirm with your AWC Academic Advisor that all program requirements are complete.
- Visit the AWC Transfer Center for support and resources.
- Check in with UAZ representatives as an admitted student to review your application status and next steps.
