Degree pathways between NAU-Yuma and AWC have been articulated to allow students to complete their 2yr Associate's degree at AWC and meet the required coursework for the first 2yrs at NAU.

Steps for a successful transfer to NAU

Select a Major and Degree

•    Choose the major and degree you plan to pursue at AWC along with your intended university program.
•    Seek guidance that aligns your choice with your interests and career goals through AWC Career Services.
•    Review AWC Degrees and Certificates.
•    Use Arizona Western College Major Guides from AZTransfer.com to explore transfer pathways.

Meet with AWC Advisors and Transfer Personnel

•    Review your AWC academic plan and transfer timeline with Academic Advisors and Transfer Personnel.
•    Students transferring to NAU-Yuma should schedule an AWC 2 NAU Academic Advising appointment.
•    Schedule an appointment with the Transfer Services Coordinator for additional transfer planning and support if needed.

Explore Transfer Pathways

•    Review NAU degree programs and progression plans.
•    Create your profile on JacksPath, NAU’s tool for exploring how your AWC credits transfer.
•    View degree programs available at NAU Yuma.
•    Use the AWC/NAU Transfer Guide from AZTransfer.com as a resource for transfer equivalencies.
•   Sign up for 2NAU as early as possible to ensure a smooth transfer experience and take advantage of scholarship opportunities.

Connect with University Representatives and Admissions Personnel

•    Meet with a university major representative to learn more about your program and transfer pathway.
•    Connect with admissions personnel for deadlines, application requirements, and next steps. (see the Contact tab for details).
•    Check the AWC Event Calendar or the Transfer Center for upcoming transfer events and application workshops

Complete the AGEC/ Degree

•    The Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) transfers as a block to NAU and provides a solid foundation for your major.
•    Completing your AWC degree aligned with your intended program ensures a seamless transfer.
•    Reminder: Submit your AWC graduation application by the posted deadline.

Apply for University Admission

•    Submit your NAU admissions application six to nine months before your intended transfer date or as soon as applications open for your transfer term.
•    Work with NAU representatives during this process for guidance.
•    Send official transcripts electronically to admissions@nau.edu
      Request your AWC official transcript from AWC Student Records.

Circle Back with AWC and University Personnel

•    Confirm with your AWC Academic Advisor that all program requirements are complete.
•    Visit the AWC Transfer Center for support and resources.
•    Check in with UAZ representatives as an admitted student to review your application status and next steps.

The Yuma Educational Success (YES) Program is a one-of-a-kind transfer program designed to support Yuma Union High School District graduates on a successful pathway from Arizona Western College to Northern Arizona University. If you graduated or will be graduating from a Yuma Union High School District high school in Spring 2025 and plan to transfer to NAU, you may be eligible for this program.

We offer eligible participants a $4,000 scholarship while enrolled at AWC, as well as various college resources, academic success planning, career development services, semesterly social activities, transfer support, and more!
