Frequently Asked Questions

Eligible high school students from partnering schools may enroll in Dual Enrollment courses with approval from their guidance counselor. Students must meet course prerequisites or have qualifying placement scores and complete the Arizona Western College online application.

Students can pay through various methods, with the preferred option being Self-Service. For step-by-step instructions, refer to azwestern.edu/paying-for-college.

Students must drop the course during AWC’s add/drop period to receive a full refund and avoid a transcript record. The deadline is listed in the Important Reminders document in your packet. To drop a course, contact your high school counselor, dual enrollment teacher, or the Early College Program at AWC. After the deadline, a Withdraw Request form is required. A “W” grade will appear on your transcript, which doesn’t affect GPA but may impact future financial aid eligibility. Refunds are not available after the deadline, and any remaining balance must be paid.

All dual enrollment classes need to be passed with a grade of “C” or better. A minimum of a “C” grade is required to pass all Arizona Western College courses.

It is the student’s responsibility to drop the dual enrollment class with Arizona Western College if these changes occur within the add/drop period. If changes to the student schedule take place after the add/drop deadline, it is the student’s responsibility to submit a Withdraw form with the Early College Program at Arizona Western College.

Of course. We encourage parent/guardian involvement while taking college classes. For Arizona Western College to be able to exchange any student information with a parent/guardian, the student must complete the Student Release of Information form, also referred to as FERPA form, provided in the packet. (For further information please refer to the FERPA form.)

At Arizona Western College we have students of all ages! All high school students may enroll independently in college classes and take advantage of our $30 per credit hour tuition rate.

AP classes require students to pass a standardized exam to earn college credit, and score requirements vary by institution. Dual Enrollment awards college credit based on the final grade in the course—students who earn a “C” or better receive credit.
