Dual Enrollment for Teachers

We’re excited to partner with you as you bring college-level learning into your high school classroom. As a Dual Enrollment instructor, you’ll help students earn both high school and college credit at the same time, giving them a powerful head start on their future. With AWC’s training, resources, and ongoing support, you’ll be equipped to maintain academic rigor while making higher education more accessible to your students.

Meet Qualifications

Dual Enrollment instructors must meet credentialing requirements set by AWC and the Higher Learning Commission. Documentation such as transcripts, certifications, and resumes are required for review.

Teach College-Level Courses

Approved high school teachers deliver courses at a college level, ensuring students earn credit that counts toward both high school and college requirements.

Follow Curriculum Standards

High school courses must align with approved syllabi, learning outcomes, and AWC academic expectations to maintain accreditation and academic integrity.

Access Training & Support

Teachers receive onboarding, orientation, and ongoing support from AWC faculty and staff, along with access to college-level resources for themselves and their students.

Dual Enrollment Teacher Qualifications

High school teachers who are approved by Arizona Western College (AWC) may offer designated high school courses for college credit through the dual enrollment program. These courses are taught at the college level, and students must meet AWC’s admission requirements to enroll.

To ensure academic integrity and accreditation, all dual enrollment courses must align with standards set by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This includes:

  • Instructor Qualifications: Teachers must meet credentialing requirements and submit appropriate documentation.
  • Onboarding and Training: Participation in AWC’s training and orientation processes is required.
  • Curriculum Standards: Courses must follow approved syllabi and meet college-level rigor.
  • Learning Outcomes: Instruction must align with defined outcomes for college credit.
  • Access to Resources: Students must have access to college-level learning materials and support services.

By participating in dual enrollment, high school students gain early exposure to college coursework, helping them transition smoothly to higher education and earn credits toward a college degree.
