The program is designed to prepare students for entry level nursing practice in a variety of health care settings. The curriculum is designed to offer an exit option at the practical nursing level. Graduates who have obtained a license to practice (RN) are eligible for transfer to advanced degrees in nursing.
Program Purpose
Graduates will demonstrate (1) knowledge and skills to provide safe care as an entry level nurse, (2) basic knowledge in nursing that will prepare them for the registered nurse licensure examination, and (3) competency in communication, critical thinking, quantitative analysis, and technological applications.
Program Map
Associate Degree in Nursing - 2 Years
AAS degree, graduates are eligible to seek licensure as a registered nurse (RN).
Designed to provide an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing degree with an exit option of Practical Nurse and eligibility for entrance into a Baccalaureate Degree program in nursing.
Learning experiences include classroom, lab, clinical, online communication and assignments, and computer interactive learning and simulation.
Certificate in Practical Nursing - Exit Option - 3 Semesters
Nursing Practical - CERT - Occupational Certificate
Exit option of the ADN program.
Following successful completion of the first 3 semesters of the associate degree in nursing, students desiring to earn a Practical Nurse certificate can complete the Transition to PN Competency Packet.
This certificate makes the student eligible for licensure as a Practical Nurse.
