Nominations sought for AWC Hall of Fame


Yuma, AZ (March 10, 2022) – The Arizona Western College Foundation is currently seeking nominations from the community for the 2022 AWC Hall of Fame.

Installed in 2011, the AWC Hall of Fame currently has 24 honorees, including 2021 inductees Amanda Aguirre, Bruce Jacobson, Mario Jauregui, Richard Lamb, and Sheriff Leon Wilmot.

Law Enforcement Training Academy graduates largest class of cadets


Class moving on to careers at nine agencies across Arizona

Yuma, AZ (March 10, 2022) – Arizona Western College recently graduated its largest class of Law Enforcement Training Academy cadets since the full-time program began in 2019.

A total of 23 students graduated on Feb. 24, and have now successfully moved on to begin their law enforcement careers at nine different agencies around the state.

AWC Community Band to present Spring Concert


Guest artist Mark Nelson to be featured, host public clinic

Yuma, AZ (March 7, 2022) – The Arizona Western College Community Band will be presenting its first concert of the spring semester on Monday, March 14.

A variety of musical styles will be performed during the event, which will be held at 7 p.m. in the Schoening Conference Center in the 3C Building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E. The guest artist for the performance will be Mark Nelson, a retired instructor of tuba and director of bands at Pima Community College.

As a former small business owner himself, it was a love for helping his fellow businesspeople succeed that initially attracted him to the position of Arizona Western College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Director back in 2002.

Women’s History Month celebrated at AWC


Third Annual Lecture Series open to public

Yuma, AZ (March 3, 2022) – Students at Arizona Western College will have an opportunity to learn about Women’s History Month during upcoming events and activities happening at the Yuma Campus.

The community is also invited to attend the Third Annual Women’s History Month Lecture Series which will be held from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. on March 9 and March 23 in person at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E, and via Zoom.

Helios Education Foundation awards $100K grant to support new initiative
