AWC breaks ground on new Law Enforcement Training Academy

Construction expected to be complete Fall of 2024

Yuma, AZ (October 5, 2023) – Arizona Western College celebrated the beginning of construction for the new state-of-the-art Law Enforcement Training Academy during a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 5.

Housed on the AWC Yuma Campus next to the Public Safety Institute, the over 20,000-square-foot facility will provide a centralized space for cadets from across the state to receive training to become certified peace officers.

Yuma, AZ (September 28, 2023) – Join Arizona Western College as we officially break ground on the new Law Enforcement Training Academy. The project will centralize training for LETA cadets from across the state in a purpose-built facility housed on the AWC Yuma Campus. The over 20,000-square-foot building will be adaptable to accommodate high industry demand, increase training capabilities, and expand cadet capacity at AWC.

Class moving on to careers at nine agencies across Arizona

Yuma, AZ (March 10, 2022) – Arizona Western College recently graduated its largest class of Law Enforcement Training Academy cadets since the full-time program began in 2019.

A total of 23 students graduated on Feb. 24, and have now successfully moved on to begin their law enforcement careers at nine different agencies around the state.

Yuma, AZ (August 31, 2019) – Ten students graduated Friday night from Arizona Western College’s first ever full-time Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA), the result of collaborative work with multiple municipal and agency partners.

Yuma, AZ (February 28, 2019) – When local law enforcement agencies reached out and asked for a full-time option to train incoming cadets, Arizona Western College worked with the City of Yuma and Yuma County to make that request a reality.

AWC will start offering a full-time Law Enforcement Training Academy housed at the Ray Croc Sports Complex, 1280 W. Desert Sun Drive, beginning March 25.
