AWC students to host "Second Multilingual Student Expo" at San Luis Learning Center

March 16, 2022

San Luis, AZ (March 15, 2022) – First-Year English Composition students at Arizona Western College’s San Luis Learning Center (SLLC) are inviting the community to come out and attend their Second Multilingual Student Expo on Wednesday, March 16.

In celebration of the International Day of Multilingualism (March 27), ENG107 and ENG108 students and their English professor, Dr. Sara Amani, are bringing the community together to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity. During this event, students will have an opportunity to showcase their collective work and share student writing, poetry, movie reviews, artwork, performances, games, and videos.

“When my students learned they can share their ideas with an audience beyond the classroom, it motivated them to work together as a team to produce high-quality work. This meant, in many cases, that they revised their work through multiple drafts,” said Dr. Sara Amani, Professor of Multilingual Composition Specialist. “They were encouraged to do their best so they can stand proudly beside their work and as a byproduct, they came to believe that they are capable of producing high-quality work.  This event puts our students center stage as they describe the process and products of their learning. We hope to bring the community together to celebrate their collective work as a team.”

The event will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Multi-Purpose Room 104 at the SLLC, 1340 N. 8th Avenue, in San Luis, Arizona. The public and members of the media are invited to attend.
