This program provides inmates of the Arizona State Prison Complex Yuma with essential entry-level employment skills to enable them to find employment after their release from prison.

Program Purpose


This program is part of the contract with the Arizona Department of Corrections and offers inmates of the Arizona State Prison Complex Yuma the opportunity to obtain a vocational certificate.

Learning Outcomes


  • Synthesize federal regulations and occupational health principles to establish and maintain a safe construction environment.
  • Evaluate construction environments to identify, assess, and mitigate critical hazards through standardized safety procedures.
  • Execute safe material handling and operational practices around heavy machinery using standard industry communication.
  • Apply foundational drafting techniques and measurement tools to analyze and produce technical illustrations.
  • Interpret comprehensive construction blueprints and technical specifications across multiple disciplines to guide project execution.
