Ethics Statement

Access to the networks and information technology environment at Arizona Western College (AWC) is a priviledge and must be treated as such by all users of these systems. When you use AWC’s computing systems and services, you accept the following specific responsibilities summarized below (see “AWC Technology Acceptable Use Policy” for more details):

  1. To respect the privacy of other users.
  2. To respect the rights of other users.
  3. To respect the legal protection provided by copyright and licensing of programs and data.
  4. To respect the intended usage of resources; for example, you and only you shall use accounts assigned to you by AWC.
  5. To respect the intended usage of systems for electronic exchange such as e-mail, Internet Relay Chat (IRC), Usenet news, World-Wide Web, etc.
  6. To respect the integrity of the system or network; for example, you shall not seek unauthorized access to accounts or information systems.

Violations of any of the above guidelines are considered unethical and violations of AWC policy; they may be criminal offenses. Inappropriate use of AWC technology resources may result in one or more of the following: loss of access, disciplinary review, suspension or expulsion, termination of employment, and civil or criminal legal action.
