The leadHERship initiative at Arizona Western College proudly presents the workshop "Finding Your Passion for Service" on November 25. Led by AWC Professor Dr. Monica Ketchum-Cardinas, the workshop will center on the transformative power of giving back to the community.
After three years of work including surveys, focus groups, and design drafts, Arizona Western College proudly unveiled our new mascot at the Meet the Matador event on November 12th. Designed by AWC Graphic Designer Gabriela Reyna, the new Matador is a blend of tradition and school pride.
AWC recently celebrated the Grand Opening of the new DeAnza Residence Hall, which features a grill deck, theater room, rooftop terrace, and more. Designed to foster a sense of belonging, the completed building truly is a joint effort intended to meet the diverse needs of the AWC community.
AWC is pleased to offer free Adult Education courses districtwide in San Luis, Parker, Quartzsite, and Yuma. Students can work towards a High School Equivalency Diploma, take English courses for Speakers of Other Languages, and even participate in the dual-pathway Integrated Education Training program.
Lou Gum, News & Operations Director for the KAWC Newsroom, will be a featured panelist in the Local News, Local Impact: Post-Election Debrief Webinar on Monday, November 18th. Moderated by NPR’s Scott Horsely, panelists will discuss the importance of local news and the effect elections have on journalism. The community is invited to attend the free webinar via Zoom.
The AWC Pep Band will present its Fall Patio Concert on Thursday, November 21 at 3:15 p.m. Stop by the 3C Building Patio outside Starbucks to enjoy the music and fall weather!
Arizona Western College invites the community to share their input at the Strategic Planning Horizon Symposium 2025 on November 15th, 2024. The college + community event will include engaging presentations from industry leaders and hosted focus groups.
On November 1st and 7th, fifth-graders from Tierra Del Sol, Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan will be attending AWC for I’m Going to College events. Students experience a mock new student orientation, take 25-minute college classes with AWC professors, and “graduate” with a certificate.
Arizona Western College will be celebrating first-generation college students with a week-long event from November 4-7. The 2024 First Gen College Celebration Week activities will take place across the San Luis, Parker, and Yuma campuses.
