Hall of Fame inductees to be celebrated at Schoolhouse Soirée
August 8, 2025Maria Chavoya and Moses Camerena earn AWC Foundation Hall of Fame recognition
Yuma, Ariz. (August 8, 2025) – Join the Arizona Western College Foundation for an evening of celebration at the fourth-annual Schoolhouse Soirée on October 3. The annual fundraising event will honor the 2025 AWC Hall of Fame inductees Maria Chavoya and Moses Camerena for their significant contribution to AWC and the Yuma and La Paz communities.
As an active member of the AWC District Governing Board since 2012, Maria Chavoya has amplified student voices and shaped policies for student success. Moses Camerena, founder of AWC’s annual La Cosecha event, has dedicated years to empowering first-generation and low-income students in the community.
“Our small but mighty team gave it their all to create a magical night full of celebration and inspiration!” said AWC Foundation Development Manager Gladys Anaya. “We’re proud to honor two incredible Hall of Fame inductees whose impact on AWC and the community is truly lasting. A huge shoutout to our amazing sponsors—this event wouldn’t be possible without you!”
The Schoolhouse Soirée will take place on Friday, October 3, from 6-10 p.m. in the AWC Schoening Conference Center at 2020 S. Avenue 8E, Yuma, AZ.
Prior to the event, guests are invited to enjoy a delightful grazing table, hosted bar, silent auction, and student-crafted displays representing the impact of the Foundation’s financial support. In addition to honoring the Hall of Fame inductees, the evening will also recognize scholarship recipients and the donors who made those scholarships possible.
Event tickets are $100 and will be available until Tuesday, September 30. To procure a ticket or become an event sponsor, follow this link. The presenting sponsor for the event is EcoEnergy Solutions.
Over the years, proceeds from the event have gone toward student scholarships through the AWC Foundation Golden Hearts Fund, the Anatomage virtual anatomy table, and campus improvement. After raising over $100,000 at last year’s Soirée, the Foundation aims to raise $120,000 this year.
