Arizona Western College Releases Truth in Taxation Information


Yuma/La Paz Counties’ Arizona Western College District has released its Truth in Taxation information for the fiscal year 2021-2022 budget, in compliance with Arizona Revised Statue 15-1461.01.

According to the Truth in Taxation information, the College is proposing a 0.63% increase in the primary tax rate over fiscal year 2020-2021. The current tax, inclusive of new construction, will provide an additional $953,545 in revenues. Including the tax increase, the total taxes owed on a $100,000 home will be $213.12.

AWC launches CA$H in Your Pocket program


Students registered for fall classes can receive up to $1,500

Electric vehicle charging stations installed at AWC


Yuma, AZ (May 20, 2021) — Four new electric vehicle charging stations are now up and running at the Arizona Western College Yuma Campus.

The stations were installed in the P2 Parking Lot at no cost to the college as part of the APS Take Charge AZ pilot program. The initiative aims to remove barriers for Arizonans to drive electric by expanding access to charging stations throughout the state.

AWC and Yuma host the NJCAA Softball Championship May 23-29


The Division I NJCAA Softball Championship comes to Yuma and the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex this week!

The Home Run Derby is Sunday Night May 23rd at 7:00pm. Admission is free to the general public as 15 of the best home run hitters in the country take aim at the skyline of the Yuma foothills.

Tuesday the games begin at Noon!

Top seeded Salt Lake (UT) will take on Georgia Military, the 16 seed (on Field 1)

San Jacinto-South (TX) lands the 8 seed and will play the 9th seed Chattanooga State (TN) (Field 6) at Noon as well.

New Horizons of Phoenix helps fund Veterans Art Program


Yuma, AZ (May 11, 2021) – New Horizons of Phoenix presented a $3,000 donation to the Arizona Western College Foundation on Thursday, May 6, to support the Veterans Art Project. The program offers free ceramics classes to military veterans, active-duty personnel, and their families (spouses and children 18 and older).

New Horizons President Zack Hiscock and Military Operations Manager Tim Kane were both in attendance at the check presentation event to meet with Veterans Art students and professors.
