Northern Arizona University channels $1.7M to AWC through Helios initiative


Funds to provide scholarships and services to support more than 400 students

Yuma, AZ (August 13, 2019) – Arizona Western College was recently announced as a subrecipient of a $2.7 million grant awarded to Northern Arizona University Yuma by the Helios Education Foundation to help high school students successfully transition into higher education and careers.

Library staff to welcome students with back-to-school event


Yuma, AZ (August 12, 2019) – Arizona Western College students can stop by the campus library for a back-to-school event as they start up their classes this fall.

Staff members will be welcoming students at the AWC/NAU Academic Library on August 19-20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day with fun activities including food, a scavenger hunt, drawings, prizes, giveaways, and more.

Transfer Services introduces new RaiseMe micro-scholarship program


Yuma, AZ (August 1, 2019) – Students at Arizona Western College hoping to attain a four-year degree can now prepare for a successful path to transfer as soon as they begin community college with the help of a new joint student success initiative in partnership with the college preparedness platform RaiseMe.

AWC offers three CTE certificate programs at Arizona State Prison Complex - Yuma


Masonry graduate recently selected to teach at Arizona Department of Corrections Second Chance Center

Yuma, AZ (July 18, 2019) – In an effort to reduce recidivism, Arizona Western College currently has three Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate programs for incarcerated students to enroll in at Arizona State Prison Complex - Yuma. Available programs for inmates at three of the five units at the facility include Masonry, Foundations of Construction, and Plumbing.

Save the date: AWC careers and majors to be on display at fall event


Yuma, AZ (June 26, 2019) – Mark your calendars for the Arizona Western College Career and Technical Education (CTE) Open House and Majors Fair on November 7.

This large informational event will inform community members and students about the many disciplines available at AWC and will provide an opportunity for participants to begin the process of selecting a major.

National Science Foundation awards almost $600K for SFAz+8 CXM Project


Arizona Western College faculty to participate in rural community college math collaborative  

Yuma, AZ (June 13, 2019) – The National Science Foundation recently awarded a $599,929 grant to the Science Foundation Arizona Center for STEM at Arizona State University (SFAz STEM) to support an Advanced Technological Education Project, entitled: Impact of System-Wide Contextualization of Math in SFAz+8 Rural Arizona Colleges on Producing More Qualified Technicians (SFAz+8 CXM).
