Yuma and La Paz communities invited to vote online for favorite entries

Yuma, AZ (May 5, 2021) – Arizona Western College students from a variety of academic backgrounds will be sharing their work and talents with the community during the 2021 Student Showcase.

From May 7-13, Yuma and La Paz community members will have the opportunity to view the presentation videos online at azwestern.edu/showcase and vote for their favorite entries. Showcase scholarship recipients and a People’s Choice award winner will be announced on Friday, May 14. Students will be considered for $6,500 in scholarships.

This year’s showcase features 36 diverse entries that include medical innovations; scientific studies; video monologues; vocal, musical, and dance performances; research projects; video essays; film, art, and animation projects; poetry; a floriculture and landscaping project; a video game website; and more.

Since 2008, the event has served as a platform to highlight student projects, and over time it has also become an opportunity for students to earn scholarships. The funds are made available for students thanks to a $5,000 donation from the Gowan Company, which has been providing showcase scholarships for the past seven years. The AWC Foundation will also be contributing $1,500 in scholarships.
