Volunteers needed for national softball tournament


From May 19-24, Yuma will be home to the 2025 NCJAA Division I Softball World Series, hosted by Arizona Western College, the City of Yuma, Caballeros de Yuma, and Visit Yuma. In preparation of the large event, volunteers are being sought to assist with game statistics, ticket sales, music, and welcoming the visiting teams to Yuma.

K-12 students invited to Summer Basketball Camp


Registration is open for the 2025 Chapman Automotive Summer Basketball Camp on June 2-5, 2025. K-12 boys and girls are invited to attend the four-day camp and learn footwork, ball handling, shooting form, defense, and rebounding from the Matadors coaching staff.

La Cosecha to celebrate the determination of transfer students


On Thursday, May 15th, AWC is hosting the La Cosecha banquet, an annual event celebrating the determination of AWC students transferring to a university. Honorees will include first generation students, students with a disability, and those who relied on financial assistance or experienced extenuating circumstances during degree completion.

Students showcase creativity at annual events


On April 16th, Arizona Western College celebrated the creativity of our students at the 2025 Student Showcase and Open Mic, with $9,000 in scholarships awarded to participants in Yuma and San Luis.

AWC referenced in national report on transfer student success


Arizona Western College has been featured in a national report outlining recommendations for increasing the bachelor’s attainment rate for transfer students across the country. The report highlights AWC’s Dual Enrollment Program, the institutional partnership with Northern Arizona University-Yuma, and the success of the Yuma Educational Success (YES) Program.

AWC students place third at Business Competition


Earlier this month, students from the Arizona Western Business Club competed in the 2025 Arizona Community College Excellence Business Competition, with one of AWC’s four-student teams placing third overall.
