AWC emphasizes safety back to campus, choice in Fall 2021-2022 class schedule


Yuma, AZ (April 9, 2021) – Arizona Western College has kept two guiding interests in mind when making decisions about the Fall 2021 semester: (1) keeping students, faculty, staff, and communities safe, and (2) helping students achieve their academic goals.

With these important objectives in mind, AWC’s Fall 2021 Instruction Plan will include course offerings in five different modalities. The varying formats were chosen to help students return to instructional modes that best fit their lifestyle. Not all of these modes will be offered at all times:

The online career networking site will provide AWC students and graduates with access to a built-in network of employers, expanding job opportunities and regional, national, and global professional learning experiences.

Band, choir student shares on disappointments and resilience during pandemic

Yuma, AZ (March 22, 2021) – For the past three years, Vanessa Ramirez has been diligently working to improve as both a flutist and a singer.

Ramirez has participated as a student in the Arizona Western College Community Band, Pep Band, and Jazz Band and also takes private voice lessons and sings second soprano and alto with the AWC Chamber Singers and Yuma Chorale.

Arizona Western College names 2021 Teachers of the Year

AWC seeking Hall of Fame nominations


Yuma, AZ (March 17, 2021) – Arizona Western College is currently requesting nominations from the community for the 2021 AWC Hall of Fame.

Installed in 2011, the AWC Hall of Fame currently has 19 honorees, including 2020 inductees Dr. Jim Carruthers, Charlene Fernandez, and Gonzalo Huerta, Sr.

More college students eligible for SNAP benefits through pandemic exemptions


AWC students can also receive food and necessities through Andale’s Food Pantry

Yuma, AZ (March 15, 2021) – College students who were not previously eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) may now qualify thanks to additional flexibilities put in place by a new COVID relief bill.

The Emergency Coronavirus Relief Act (HR 133) made it possible for approximately six million additional college students to use SNAP (formerly known as food stamps), to purchase groceries and have a nutritious diet.
