AWC Civic Orchestra presents Spirit of Christmas


Yuma, AZ (December 2, 2021) – The Arizona Western College Civic Orchestra will be presenting “The Spirit of Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 18.

The community is invited to come out with the whole family to experience a beautiful selection of Christmas music. Performances will be held at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Historic Yuma Theater, 254 S. Main St.

In addition to the AWC Civic Orchestra, the String Ambassadors will also be performing.

Demolition of DeAnza Residence Hall to take place Nov. 22

Yuma, AZ (November 18, 2021) – The long-standing DeAnza Residence Hall at Arizona Western College will be coming down at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22. The demolition of the residence hall will make way for the construction of a new dorm, which is set to open in the Fall of 2023.

AWC announces student-led podcast "The Voice"

Yuma, AZ (November 18, 2021) – Starting Spring 2022, Arizona Western College students will begin making podcast episodes for “The Voice”: a new podcast created by the students, for the students, as part of The Western Voice.

Native American Heritage Month Celebration to be held at AWC


Yuma, AZ (November 16, 2021) – The Arizona Western College Indigenous Student Association Club will be hosting a Native American Heritage Month Celebration on Monday, Nov. 22. The public event will be held from 11 am to 2 pm in the breezeway of the 3C Building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.

AWC Jazz Ensemble to perform fall concert


Yuma, AZ (November 15, 2021) – The Arizona Western College Jazz Ensemble will present an evening of jazz music for all ages to enjoy during their upcoming fall concert.

The performance, entitled, “Jazz Night and Day,” will feature vocalist Grace Marceau and will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the AWC Theatre, 2020 S. Ave. 8E. 

The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to benefit student scholarships.

Inductees to be recognized during AWC Hall of Fame Celebration

Yuma, AZ (November 15, 2021) – Alumni and community partners will be present to attend the Arizona Western College Hall of Fame Celebration at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16.  AWC’s 2021 Hall of Fame Inductees Amanda Aguirre, Bruce Jacobson, Mario Jauregui, Richard Lamb, and Sheriff Leon Wilmot will be honored during the in-person event, which will also be streamed on Facebook Live.

AWC to present three business leader panels during Global Entrepreneur Week

AWC soccer teams to host NJCAA Division I Region I Championship games

Yuma, AZ (October 27, 2021) – For the first time in the program’s history, the Arizona Western College Men’s Soccer team (17-0 overall, 9-0 ACCAC) remained undefeated all season.

The Matadors won their 17th consecutive game on Saturday in Tucson against Pima, earning the title of ACCAC Conference Champions. This is the 4th time the program has held this title.
