Senior Day happening at AWC on Feb. 6

January 31, 2019

Yuma, AZ (January 31, 2019) – High school seniors in the Arizona Western College Talent Search and Upward Bound programs will be learning about scholarships and getting prepared for their first year of higher education during an upcoming Senior Day event.

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, the students will be visiting the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E, from 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Seniors will be divided up on two different tracks, one for those going to AWC in the fall and the other for those going on to a university.

University students will learn about applying for scholarships from state foundations and will also work on an entry for the Google Doodle scholarship. AWC students will have an opportunity to do placement testing, and time permitting the other scholarship sessions as well.

The event will conclude with lunch on campus with students from the TRIO Student Support Services program.

Talent Search and Upward Bound are both federally funded grant programs through the U.S. Department of Education.  They are designed to help students graduate from high school and continue on to college, ultimately earning a post-secondary degree.  Eligible students are potential first-generation college students, and/or income eligible.
