Project Information

The purpose of AWC’s Guiding Principles for Learning is to shape the AWC student experience both through course curriculum and extracurricular activities. As you develop as a student you are also developing as part of a larger community, pursuing interests and expressing yourself in a variety of ways that are unique to you.

Project Description: In approximately 2 paragraphs OR in a 3-4 minute video, thoroughly and thoughtfully explain how the project you are presenting for the Student Showcase exemplifies your understanding and expression of one of the five Guiding Principles for Learning:

  • Aesthetics & Creative Thinking
  • Analytical Reasoning & Metacognition
  • Collaboration & Inclusion
  • Ethical Growth & Wellness
  • Application & Creation of Knowledge

For example, if you are presenting a science poster at the Showcase how does it reflect the Application & Creation of Knowledge? Or is your presentation a better example of Collaboration & Inclusion?  If you are presenting artwork or performing poetry or music, does your project align with Aesthetics and Creative Thinking? Analytical Reasoning? How so and in what ways?

While you will need to identify one overall Guiding Principle with which your project most aligns and provide supporting details to explain why, you are encouraged to also identify any additional Principles that your project may express.

Project Description Requirements: Effective paragraphs/videos will:

  • Briefly describe your project
  • Identify the primary Guiding Principle expressed by your project
  • Explain in detail how that Principle is expressed in your project
  • Explore any additional Principles that may also be expressed in your project
  • Describe what you discovered and learned as a result of this project
  • Express what you are still curious about, even after completing the project

Note: If you choose to submit a video, be sure to publish it to youtube & then share the active link in the Project Description area below.
