Social Work (BSW)
The field of Social Work includes three specific areas:
- Working with individuals and families as they move through the life cycle.
- Working with agencies and communities to help build and strengthen core service needs for those living and working there.
- Working with national and international populations and addressing issues that impact global sustenance and sustainability.
- This work can be done within your own community and anywhere around the world.
- Continue your studies with a CSWE-accredited program focused on border communities and culturally responsive practice.
- Engage in field placements at Yuma-area agencies while staying near your support system.
- Build a meaningful career in child welfare, mental health, substance abuse, or advocacy—without needing to leave town.
Psychological Sciences (BS)
- Build on your AWC psychology coursework and transition into a research-informed bachelor's degree.
- Customize your path with electives in cognitive, social, developmental, and clinical psychology.
- Participate in local research or internships, gaining relevant experience right where you live and plan to work.
- Transition from NAU-Yuma’s Psychological Science BS program into the Clinical Mental Health Counseling MA Program and become a practicing counselor without leaving Yuma County. Note: A Separate application to the MA Program is required
