AWC Agriculture Science Manager honored with Governor’s award

Yuma, AZ (December 11, 2019) – Arizona Western College Agriculture Science Manager Leigh Loughead was recently presented with the Inaugural 2019 Governor’s Agricultural Educator Award. She was honored during the 5th Annual Arizona Agribusiness Roundtable in Tempe, Arizona on Monday, Dec. 2.

AWC Music Faculty in Concert Jan. 26


Yuma, AZ (December 11, 2019) – The community is invited to attend the Arizona Western College Music Faculty in Concert performance on Sunday, January 26.

Faculty will perform vocal and instrumental classical music during the concert, which will begin at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1550 S. 14th Ave.

The performance is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to support music scholarships for students.

Professor shares about authoring first children’s book

Yuma, AZ (December 10, 2019) – Writing a children’s book had been a goal of Aryca Marron’s for a few years, but it wasn’t until she watched her daughter learn how to make tortillas that she finally got the inspiration she needed to get started.

FDA Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response to visit AWC


Yuma, AZ (November 26, 2019) – Frank Yiannas, the Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, will be speaking to agriculture students at Arizona Western College on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Yiannas will meet with 15 to 25 students to talk about his role at the FDA and answer questions that students may have. His presentation will be of particular interest to AWC and University of Arizona - Yuma agriculture majors interested in a career in food safety.

Culinary Arts to present Student Station Buffet


Yuma, AZ (November 21, 2019) – The Arizona Western College Culinary Arts Program is inviting the community to bring their appetite to an upcoming Student Station Buffet on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Culinary Arts students will be serving salads, appetizers, entrees, and desserts at various stations during the event. Featured food items include tacos, pasta, Asian food, beef tenderloin and more. The students have created the menu for this event and will be preparing the dishes that will be served as well.
