Yuma, AZ (February 19, 2020) – Visit Yuma recently presented a check for $1,000 to the Arizona Western College Agricultural Science Department. The funds were raised during Visit Yuma’s Iceberg Drop celebration, which was held on Main Street on New Year’s Eve.

“Visit Yuma looks for opportunities to give back to the community in meaningful ways. We know that our sponsors appreciate that a portion of the proceeds from the Iceberg Drop goes to support agriculture education,” said Linda Morgan, Executive Director of Visit Yuma.

The donation will be used by the AWC Land Lab to purchase items for the program including seed, fertilizer, pesticides, irrigation supplies, and more.

“The AWC Agricultural Science Department is fortunate to have a community partner like Visit Yuma,” said Leigh Loughead, AWC Agriculture Science Manager. “They see the need to educate the next generation of agriculture leaders while helping the public see the importance of agriculture to the Yuma community and Arizona.”
