Chicano Educational Conference to be hosted locally

The Yuma Chapter of the Arizona Association of Chicanos for Higher Education (AACHE) announces its annual conference. The conference, titled The Influence of Minorities to American Culture, will take place on Friday, November 17, 2017 on the Yuma Campus at Arizona Western College and Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the César Chávez Cultural Center in San Luis, AZ.

The program will include breakout sessions featuring a variety of topics and presenters from various institutions in the public and the private sector as well as students from several institutions of higher education from several locations. There will also be a keynote speaker that will address conference attendees.

The following tracks are planned:

     1.  Opportunities for all: Latino demographics in Higher Education

     2.  Hispanic impact in the culture and the art in America

     3.  Academic Successes in the K-20 system for Hispanic Students; Models that WORK

     4.  Opportunities for International Partnerships

The conference is made possible thanks to the support of Arizona Western College Office of the President, Northern Arizona University Yuma Branch Campus and the Arizona Association of Chicanos for Higher Education.
