Coursework covers topics such as fundamentals of graphical communications, including sketching, computer-aided drafting, design, and parametric modeling.

Type
Students who successfully complete the course requirements will earn college credit from Arizona Western College and the Certified Solidworks Associate credential.

What You'll Learn

Topics covered include:

• Define engineering graphics and explain its history. 
• Describe and show the basic parametric modeling procedure.
• Create 2D sketches in SolidWorks using dynamic viewing commands and parametric dimensions.
• Illustrate the different extrusion options in SolidWorks and utilize geometric relations to display and modify parametric relations.
• Define dimensioning nomenclature and create drawing layouts from solid models.
• Set up the tolerancing option in SolidWorks to meet ANSI and ISO standard fits.
• Use the assembly modeling methodology to place parts using SolidWorks SmartMates.
• Create exploded assemblies and assembly drawings in SolidWorks.

Registration Process: Because students earn college credit from Arizona Western College, application and admission to AWC is required.   Interested students will meet with an AZ Quest Grant Coordinator to determine eligibility for the program.
