Yuma, AZ (November 16, 2023) – As First Gen College Celebration Week events were underway at Arizona Western College campuses locally, two students from the AWC San Luis Learning Center had the opportunity to join in the celebration at the national level in Washington DC.

About 72 percent of the AWC student population is made up of first-generation college goers and nearly 40 percent of AWC’s faculty and staff members also identify as first-generation students.

Yuma, AZ (September 24, 2019) – Arizona Western College is holding an Off to College event for upperclassmen in Talent Search and Upward Bound programs on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

From 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., juniors and seniors will be preparing for college by learning about financial aid and how to find scholarships. The event will take place in the Schoening Conference Center at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave 8E.

This annual award is presented to individuals in the Arizona public-school sector that have instituted policies and programs to enhance education and make a difference in the lives of students and the greater community.

With a theme of “Rising to Transform: Investing in the Future of Educational Equity,” the conference will provide professional development opportunities for educators who work in programs such as Upward Bound, Talent Search, Student Support Services, and Gear-Up.
