Village Jazz Series artists to hold free clinics & performances at AWC

Yuma, AZ (January 9, 2020) – Some of the guest artists performing in the Village Jazz Series will also be visiting Arizona Western College to hold clinics and performances that are all free and open to the public.

The Danny Green Trio, led by famed jazz pianist Danny Green, will perform from 1:40 to 2:55 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, in room MU 102 located in the Music Building of the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Avenue 8E. Danny Green has captured the attention of critics around the world with a portfolio of vibrant sounds: an enchanting mix of jazz, classical, and Brazilian rhythms.

The Ron Kobayashi Trio, led by famed pianist Ron Kobayashi, will perform from 3:05 to 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, in room MU 102 located in the Music Building of the AWC Yuma Campus.  High school and college-level musicians, especially those who play piano, bass, and drums are encouraged to attend. Pianist and composer Ron Kobayashi has collaborated with several great figures in American music and entertainment. He is also a veteran television performer and music director for Hollywood productions. The trio also includes bass player Baba Elefante and drummer Steve Dixon.

Percussionist Jake Reed and guitarist Bruce Forman will perform from 3:05 to 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, in room MU 102 located in the Music Building of the AWC Yuma Campus.

The Yuma Jazz Company will perform from 3:05 to 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, in room MU 102 located in the Music Building of the AWC Yuma Campus. The Yuma Jazz Company has been creating live music in Yuma and the Southwest since 2002, releasing four albums of original music and acting as the house band for the Village Jazz Series and "Jazz Nights" at Julieanna's Patio Café.
