Regents’ visit highlights AWC’s growing role in Arizona’s workforce pipeline
December 10, 2025Yuma, Ariz. (December 10, 2025) – On Thursday, December 4, Arizona Western College’s leadership had the privilege of hosting the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) at its Yuma campus for a special board meeting as part of ABOR’s commitment to foster collaboration with communities across the state. The special board meeting brought together AWC cabinet members, ABOR leadership, and elected officials from the Arizona House and Senate.
“We were delighted to welcome the Arizona Board of Regents to Arizona Western College today,” commented AWC President Dr. Daniel Corr. “It was a valuable opportunity to share our progress, highlight our commitment to expanding access to high-quality education, and reinforce our shared mission of preparing students for meaningful careers. We appreciate ABOR’s leadership and support as we work together to strengthen our region’s talent pipeline and advance opportunities for all Arizonans.”
During the visit, AWC leadership was able to share on the state of Yuma’s agriculture and the ongoing partnership between AWC and Arizona’s state universities, as well as review the request for a Regents’ Research Grant to strengthen Arizona’s agriculture industry. This was followed by a public executive session.
“It was a privilege to welcome the Arizona Board of Regents to AWC,” said Dr. Reetika Dhawan, AWC’s Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Workforce & Healthcare Programs. “Their presence affirms the critical role community colleges play in strengthening Arizona’s workforce and improving the quality of life for families across our region. We value ABOR’s partnership and support as we continue building pathways that help students learn, earn, and thrive.”
Unified under the shared mission to expand access to postsecondary education, AWC and ABOR continue to deepen partnerships that strengthen Arizona’s workforce and open doors of opportunity for students across the state.
