AWC holding Chili Cook-off to earn scholarship funds


Teams to participate in heated competition for title of event champion   

Yuma, AZ (November 5, 2018) – Come enjoy a variety of chili while simultaneously raising funds for college scholarships.

The AWC Alumni Association invites the community to attend their Annual Chili Cook-off on Thursday, Nov. 8. The fundraising event will be filled with award winning chili, music, and family fun with a focus on raising funds for AWC Alumni Association scholarships and programs.

KAWC Spirited Discussion Series: Arizona Highways Magazine


Yuma, AZ (October 31, 2018) – Former Arizona Highways Magazine publisher Win Holden will tell the story of how a brochure produced by the Arizona Highway Department evolved into one of the most respected and revered publications in the world during KAWC’s upcoming Spirited Discussion.

Transfer & Career Expo to highlight Business, Communications, & Education

Ave. 8E. The expo will specifically focus on Business, Communications, and Education opportunities for current and prospective students.

Ave. 8E. AWC’s 2018 Hall of Fame Inductees Dr. Kathryn A. Watson and Dr. George Montopoli will be honored at the breakfast.

Arizona Court of Appeals to hold oral argument at AWC


Yuma, AZ (October 24, 2018) – Arizona Western College and the Arizona Court of Appeals invite the community to attend an oral argument about the case Waltz Healing Center, Inc. v. Arizona Department of Health Services.

The oral argument will be held Friday, Nov. 2, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Schoening Conference Center at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Avenue 8E. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to go through security for screening.

Chucasso Arte on display at AWC San Luis Learning Center


San Luis, AZ (October 22, 2018) – The community is invited to come check out the Chucasso Arte exhibit currently on display until Friday, Nov. 9, at the Arizona Western College San Luis Learning Center, 1340 N. 8th Avenue, San Luis, Ariz.

The exhibition is free for the community to attend and open on Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Yuma ASCPA chapter presents “The Road to the CPA”


Yuma, AZ (October 22, 2018) – The road to achieving the Certified Public Accountant designation can be challenging if you’re not prepared.

That’s why the Arizona Western College Accounting program, the AWC Business Group club, and the Arizona Society of CPAs (ASCPA) Yuma chapter are teaming up to present, “The Road to the CPA,” on Tuesday, October 23.

AWC Student Helps Others with FAFSA


Yuma, AZ (October 18, 2018) – Bailey Figueroa is graduating from Arizona Western College with her associate’s degree thanks to Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) funding.

She was initially inspired to pursue higher education after watching her older sister, Tiffany, become the first person in their family to graduate from college. Bailey wanted to follow in her sister’s footsteps, but finances were an obstacle. Without financial aid, she would have only been able to take two classes per semester due to cost.

AWC Civic Orchestra celebrating 43rd season of Classics by Moonlight


Yuma, AZ (October 16, 2018) – Join the Arizona Western College Civic Orchestra for Classics by Moonlight on Saturday, October 20.

As part of their 43rd season, the full Civic Orchestra along with the String Ambassadors, Young String Ambassadors, and Twinklers will be presenting music including legends, dragons, pirates, firebirds, zombies and more for the whole family to enjoy.
