Softball field upgrades worth a look


YUMA, Ariz. – Notice anything different about the Charlie Dine Softball Field? How about a better view from behind home plate? The field received a face lift earlier in the spring when Arizona Western College invested $60,000 in the field to put in a new, state-of-the-art netting system to replace the old, chain-link fence backstop, add a warning track in the outfield and laser level the field.

4th Annual Experience AWC Set for April 28th

AWC Pep Band performing open-air concert


Yuma, AZ (February 27, 2018) – The community is invited to Arizona Western College for a free, open-air Pep Band concert on Thursday, March 15 from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.

Students will be performing on the covered patio of the 3C Building near the AWC Yuma Campus Starbucks, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.

Student-Focused Innovation Projects Bring Great Ideas to Life Across District


Yuma, AZ (February 27, 2018) – An Art Garden on Yuma Campus. A Student Engagement Fund in Parker. A South County Mentoring program. A Business Incubator. The 2018 Innovation Fund projects may be varied and on a strict budget, but the twelve teams across the district that competed and won the opportunity to design their “dream project” are already working hard.

AWC Community Band and local musicians to perform together


Yuma, AZ (February 26, 2018) – The Arizona Western College Community Band is teaming up with local musicians to perform a concert on Friday, March 16.

“Band and Chamber Music: A Concert by the AWC Community Band and Local Musicians” will begin at 7 p.m. in the Cibola High School Auditorium, 4100 W. 20th St.

The first half of the performance will consist of various pieces of music for small ensembles performed by local musicians. The second half will feature the AWC Community Band.

The concert is free and open to the public.

AWC Choral Department presents “Singing with the Masters”


Yuma, AZ (February 22, 2018) – The Arizona Western College Choral Music Department will be performing “Singing with the Masters,” featuring predominantly sacred music ranging in style from gospel to classical.

There will be songs for everyone to enjoy at the concerts, as they will include pieces from a number of well-known choral composers and arrangers.

Sevigny’s appearance is hosted by Arizona Western College and Northern Arizona University Yuma Branch Campus, and sponsored by the Friends of Yuma County Libraries, AWC Campus Life, AWC Foundation and the Yuma Sun.

TRIO KEYS celebrating Student Support Services’ 50th anniversary


Yuma, AZ (February 21, 2018) – TRIO Student Support Services is currently celebrating 50 years of helping students across the U.S. achieve their academic goals. Arizona Western College’s TRIO KEYS Program, grant funded by Student Support Services, is kicking off local anniversary festivities with an Open House on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. The community is invited to attend the event, which will be held in the KEYS building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.
