Arizona Western College strengthens commitment to Hispanic student success at HACU conference


This weekend, Arizona Western College representatives are attending the 39th Annual Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Conference in Aurora, Colorado, to exchange ideas and strengthen support for Hispanic students. AWC leaders, including Dr. Reetika Dhawan and two of the AWC District Board members, are engaging in key panels and leadership programs focused on innovation and equity in higher education.

Explore education and career opportunities at the Parker Community Expo


The community is invited to the Parker Community Expo on Wednesday, November 5 at the AWC Parker Community Center. The free event will bring together local employers, college and university representatives, and community agencies to support career exploration, education, and workforce opportunities for residents of La Paz County.

AWC celebrates first generation students November 3-6


Arizona Western College will be celebrating first-generation college students across Yuma & La Paz Counties during First Gen College Celebration Week from November 3-6 with a variety of events including a student and alumni panel, financial literacy session, job fair, health and wellness fairs, and more. 

District Governing Board announces preferred presidential candidate


The Arizona Western College District Governing Board is announcing their intent to consider a sole preferred candidate, Dr. Reetika Dhawan, to replace Dr. Daniel Corr as President of Arizona Western College. While no formal action has yet been taken, the board plans to hold Candidate Forums and a formal interview in the month of November.

AWC hosts Catrinas and Catrines contest Oct. 30


AWC, in collaboration with the Consulate of Mexico in Yuma and the Yuma County Arts and Cultural Group, invites the community to an exciting Catrinas and Catrines contest in celebration of Día de los Muertos. The event will be held on October 30 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the AWC Yuma Campus, with monetary prizes for contest winners.

AWC hosts transfer events in honor of National Transfer Student Week


From October 20-24, Arizona Western College is hosting a variety of workshops and events for students to explore transfer options, speak with representatives from Arizona’s state universities, gain skills in financial literacy, and connect with employers from the Yuma community. A highlight of the week is the Yuma Transfer & Career Expo, which members of the community are invited to attend.

Step into tree care: Full-scholarship arboriculture program now accepting applications


The AWC Continuing Education department has partnered with the AZ Community Tree Council to offer a full-scholarship arboriculture training program starting on October 20. Now accepting applications, the 8-week course offers students the opportunity to learn from local arborist professionals and gain job-ready skills in tree care.

AWC choirs present fall concert, “The Power of Many”


The Arizona Western College Choirs are excited to present their fall concert, “The Power of Many,” on October 10th and 12th. AWC Choirs will be joined by the Cibola High School advanced choir to present an evening celebrating diversity through music.
