The Western Voice returns this fall as digital podcast

May 16, 2024

Yuma, AZ (May 16, 2024) – The Arizona Western College Communications Department is announcing the return of The Western Voice as a digital podcast in the Fall of 2024.

Students enrolled in the Applied Journalism course (JRN-150) at the AWC Yuma Campus will have the opportunity to produce the podcast version of The Western Voice in a remodeled studio space located in the Learning Resources (LR) Building. The lab is equipped with microphones, a podcast setup, and new Mac computers outfitted with Adobe Audition.

The course will be co-taught by AWC English Professors Dr. Trisha Campbell and Kevin Kato.

“We are committed to re-inventing student journalism on campus with the voices of our students,” said Dr. Campbell.

Dr. Campbell shared that their goal is to have four produced episodes ready to be released during a launch party in November.

The course will start on the first day of the fall semester on August 12, and will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30pm-2:45pm.
