Student Showcase and Open Mic participants awarded $9,000 in scholarships

Yuma, Ariz. (April 23, 2025) – On April 16th, over $9,000 in scholarships were awarded to Arizona Western College students who demonstrated their talents at the 2025 Student Showcase and Open Mic events.

The annual events celebrated the creativity and hard work of AWC students on the Yuma and San Luis campuses, with over 100 students sharing poetry, musical and dance performances, artwork and ceramics, digital, video, & audio presentations, and science posters. Reflecting on love, family, multilingualism, the intersection of technology and nature, and more, the presentations were thought-provoking and emotive.

With support from the Executive Vice President of Student Services and Learning Services' office, scholarship winners were selected by AWC faculty & staff reviewers. Awards ranged from $125 to $1,400.

As one student participant shared, "I am completely grateful for the amazing opportunity to be able to present and showcase my project. It was truly such an amazing experience and opportunity, and I also hope that each showcase continues to snowball the interest and engagement of more and more students so that this event may continue to grow."
