Public invited to Charter Ceremony on May 15

San Luis, Ariz. (May 12, 2025) – The newly formed San Luis Learners Toastmasters Club of Arizona Western College is proud to announce its official charter with Toastmasters International, marking the beginning of an exciting journey to empower local voices and build strong communicators and leaders in the community.

“We are excited to bring Toastmasters to San Luis,” said Maria Guzman, president of the San Luis Learners Toastmasters Club. “Our club offers a welcoming space for anyone looking to gain confidence, find their voice, and grow as a leader.”

To commemorate this milestone, the club will host a Charter Ceremony open to the public on May 15th at 12:05 p.m. at the AWC San Luis Learning Center, 1340 N 8th Avenue.

The event will feature inspirational speeches, recognition of founding members, and a ceremonial charter presentation. Community members, professionals, students, and aspiring speakers of all experience levels are invited to attend and learn more about what Toastmasters has to offer.

“The Toastmasters club at the San Luis Learning Center gives our English Language Learners a safe space to practice English outside the classroom,” said Susanna Zambrano, Associate Dean for South Yuma County Services. “Opportunities to use English are limited near the border, and students have asked for something like this for years. It’s also a great way for all students to build confidence, public speaking, interview, and leadership skills. One of our students even practiced their Community of Learners speech at Toastmasters before delivering it to over 600 people!”
