November 10, 2022

Yuma, AZ (November 10, 2022) – The community is invited to celebrate Native American Heritage Month at Arizona Western College on Monday, Nov. 21. The Indigenous Student Association Club will be hosting a cultural event for the general public from 12 to 4 pm in the Breezeway of the 3C Building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.

Participants will share traditional Native American dance and music with the community, and artists will demonstrate bead and ceramic art traditions. Guest speakers will discuss language and land preservation efforts, and various local social service agencies will also have tables at the event. Honored guests will include residents of the Cocopah and Quechan Indian Tribes.

“This event celebrates the culture and history of the Quechan and Cocopah Tribes. We hope these activities will help educate the community about the contribution of Native people,” said Arturo Magaña, AWC Academic and Career Advisor.
