leadHERship Program invites community to join 13th-Annual Walk Against Domestic Violence in San Luis, AZ

September 30, 2024

San Luis, AZ (September 30, 2024) – The Arizona Western College (AWC) leadHERship Program is proud to announce its participation in the annual Walk Against Domestic Violence to raise awareness and show support for survivors.

Organized by the South Yuma County Domestic Violence Coalition (SYCDVC), the walk will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, starting at 8:00 A.M. at the Main Street & Urtuzuastegui Street Roundabout, and ending at Joe Orduno Park, located at 965 Park Avenue, San Luis, AZ.

Participants will walk one mile to stand in solidarity with survivors, reminding them that they are not alone and emphasizing the importance of community support in the fight against domestic violence. By coming together, the SYCDVC aims to raise awareness and inspire hope for those affected by this issue.

Dr. Sara Amani, one of leadHERship’s executive board members, shared her heartfelt thoughts: "We will walk not just to raise awareness, but to let every survivor know that their voice matters, their pain is seen, and they are not alone. Together, we will stand with them, and offer strength, compassion, hope, and support for a future where no one has to suffer in silence. Join us in taking steps toward a future free from domestic violence. "

Participants are encouraged to wear purple, the color representing domestic violence awareness, as a show of support. In addition, wristbands, pins, and stickers will be available for you to collect before the walk.
