November 9, 2023

Yuma, AZ (November 9, 2023) – The Indigenous Student Association Club at Arizona Western College is hosting a cultural event to celebrate Native American Heritage Month on Monday, Nov. 20.

The community is invited to join in the festivities from 11:00am-2:00pm in the North Wing of the Schoening Conference Center, 2020 S. Ave. 8E. A campus map can be found here.

Participants will share traditional Native American dance and song, and artists will demonstrate bead and ceramic art traditions. Guest speakers will discuss language and land preservation efforts, and various local social service agencies will also have tables at the event. Honored guests will include residents of the Quechan and Cocopah Indian Tribes.

“This event celebrates the culture and history of the Quechan and Cocopah Tribes. We hope these activities will help educate the community about the contribution of Native people,” said Arturo Magaña, AWC Academic and Career Advisor.
