CTE presents Noon Discovery Series 2.0: “Music for Healing” on April 16

Yuma, AZ (April 2, 2018) – Arizona Western College’s Center for Teaching Effectiveness (CTE) is collaborating with the AWC Licensed Massage Therapy Department and AWC Massage Therapy Club to hold a seminar and concert, both featuring Anton Mizerak and Laura Berryhill.
The Noon Discovery Series 2.0: “Music for Healing” seminar will take place on Monday, April 16, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the 3C North Wing of the Schoening Center at the AWC Yuma campus. The session, which is free and open to the public, will include a talk and demonstration about using music as a healing modality.
Mount Shasta keyboardist, harmonica and tabla player Anton Mizerak and singer Laura Berryhill will also present an evening of Celtic songs, transformational healing music and chants from around the world later that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the same location.
Tickets for the concert are $5 for students and $10 for general admission. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit student scholarships.
Since 2010 Anton Mizerak and Laura Berryhill have toured extensively as a duo, performing at over 450 venues throughout the Western states.
Anton writes his music in nature, believing that our organic experience of sun, wind, water, snow and earth, transmitted through music, can be a valuable nurturing and healing experience. His music has been featured on the nationally syndicated radio show Echoes and the digital New Age Music formats Soundscapes and Spa Channel. His highly acclaimed CD series When Angels Dream is a top seller with healers and massage therapists.
Laura has a master’s degree in music history from the University of Oregon, where she focused on early 17th-century Italian sacred music. As a vocalist she works in a variety of musical styles, from early European music, to folk music of the Celtic cultures, to new age and jazz.
