AWC Entrepreneurial College launches Logistics certification program

September 25, 2024

San Luis, AZ (September 25, 2024) – This October, Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College is launching a three-unit Logistics certification program. The 8-week introductory course, LGS 111, is scheduled to start on October 8 at the San Luis Learning Center.

The introductory course will cover the foundations of logistics and supply chain management by focusing on three key areas: transportation, warehousing, and inventory management. Students will gain skills in warehouse design, customer service, timely delivery, and operational efficiency.

Logistics certification courses will be taught by Buna George, who is the Executive Director of the Greater Yuma Port Authority.

"It's an absolute privilege to be given the opportunity to teach at AWC. Logistics is a subject that I have the utmost passion for,” George said. “We are all problem solvers. In a world with a vast array of moving parts, scheduled deadlines, and urgent needs, one must be quick to think, flexible, and knowledgeable. This applies to the trade community and to us as consumers. Join us for AWC's Logistics course to unlock the skills to keep the world moving.”

Highlighting Yuma County’s significant role in international trade, the course will also explore America’s global trade relationships, specifically those with Mexico and Canada.

“Arizona Western College is excited to fast-track the new Logistics program, offering students an accelerated path to certification,” said Reetika Dhawan, Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Workforce & Healthcare Programs. “By launching this program at our Entrepreneurial College, we're ensuring that students can quickly acquire the essential skills needed for success in supply chain management. Our goal is to get them job-ready and contribute to Yuma County's vital role in international trade as efficiently as possible.”

Beginning October 8, LGS 111 classes will be held Tuesday nights at the San Luis Learning Center. Subsequent courses LGS 112 and LGS 113 will be offered in the spring.
