AWC Majors Fair on November 1st


The Arizona Western College Majors Fair will be on Wednesday, November 1st from 9am to 1pm in the Schoening Conference Center (3C) on the Yuma Campus.  This event informs AWC students and high school seniors about the more than 60 academic disciplines available at AWC and encourage them to begin the process of selecting a major.

Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month

Arizona Western College is excited to announce a renewed collaboration with colleagues and artists of San Luis Rio Colorado. Sponsored by Martha Martinez, Division Chair of Modern Languages and Dr. Eric Lee, Division Chair of Communications, Poetas Migrantes will feature poetry from over twenty different poets from all corners of the Latin American world. Poetas Migrantes is a collective of poets that is organized and curated by Manuel Cuen.

AWC Theater to perform “Picasso at the Lapin Agile”


Yuma, AZ (October 16, 2017) – The public is invited to attend AWC Theater’s performance of “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” a play written by Steve Martin.

The show will be held at the AWC Theatre on the Yuma Main Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E, and will run from Thursday, Oct. 19 to Saturday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. as well as on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 2:30 p.m.

AWC Community Band Presents Fall Concert


Yuma, AZ (October 12, 2017) - The Arizona Western College Community Band will be having its Fall Concert on Monday, October 30. The concert will take place at 7 p.m. at Mary Elizabeth Post Auditorium, 400 W. 5th St. 

Two of the works that will be performed during the concert are by Percy Grainger, a virtuoso pianist from the early-to-mid twentieth century, who was also known for his band compositions.
The concert is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted.

AWC Music Department Presents Fall Choral Concerts


Yuma, AZ (October 5, 2017) - The Arizona Western College Music Department’s fall choral concerts “If Music Be…” will celebrate the life changing power of music.

“Music has served as such a strong force in so many people’s lives for various reasons,” said Deltrina Grimes, AWC Professor of Choral and Vocal Music. “Sometimes it gets them out of bed in the morning or motivates them to work out. It can also serve as comfort or solace during tough times. We use music to study, to relax and most important - music serves as the main ingredient for our numerous celebrations.”

AWC Celebrates National Tutor Appreciation Week


Yuma, AZ (October 2, 2017) – In observance of National Tutor Appreciation Week, Arizona Western College’s Student Success Center (SSC) and San Luis Writing Center are encouraging students to stop by and write a thank you note to a tutor who has made a difference in their education.

The SSC will be celebrating more than 40 tutors across the district with special treats and other tokens of appreciation from Monday, Oct. 2, to Thursday, Oct. 5.

Race to Benefit AWC’s Patriots Gold Heart Fund


Yuma, AZ (September 28, 2017) - Arizona Western College is holding their 4th Annual Freedom Run, Walk & Roll 5K on Saturday, November 18, to raise money for the Patriots Gold Heart Fund.

“The fund benefits veterans and their families at AWC when they are in need of financial assistance. Not all veterans are eligible for VA educational benefits, and sometimes they need a little help with school supplies, books and tuition,” said Gabriela Siqueiros-Herwig, Coordinator of Veteran Services at AWC.
