ASU@Yuma Secondary Ed students offered contracts at local high schools ahead of graduation

Yuma, AZ (May 14, 2018) – Students in the ASU@Yuma Secondary Education program have received early teaching contract offers before their upcoming graduation, some as early as during their first year of classes. With a shortage of teachers to fill open middle and high school positions in Yuma, the program has been a much-needed addition to the community.

AWC 2018 Commencement

Yuma, AZ (May 9, 2018) - Arizona Western College, Northern Arizona-Yuma Branch Campus, University of Arizona-Yuma, and Arizona State University announce the 2018 Commencement. The ceremony will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium located at 7150 E. 24th Street, next to Gila Ridge High School, on Friday, May 18, at 8 p.m.

Scholar selected for AWC Teacher of the Year Scholarship

Yuma, AZ (May 7, 2018) – AWC student Colin Yancey is the Teacher of the Year Scholar for 2018. Yancey will receive a scholarship covering in-state tuition and fees for the 2018-2019 academic year at AWC.

He was selected for the award by AWC Teacher of the Year Sarah Berner, Professor of Agricultural Science. Berner shared that she selected Yancey from a group of approximately 200 agriculture majors, each one deserving of the scholarship.

Strategic Innovation Projects in the Works Across District

Faculty, staff collaborating on $193,000 worth of student-centric projects

Yuma, AZ (May 3, 2018) –  Twelve AWC Innovation Fund projects, which were funded in January as part of the AWC Strategic Plan 2025, are underway at four locations in the college district. These Innovation Fund teams are focused on creating student-centered, thriving communities, and several of them are starting to see great things happen.
