Arizona Western College has been selected to participate in the BuildItAZ Apprenticeship Initiative alongside nine other construction apprenticeship programs in the state of Arizona. A $3M grant will be dispersed among grantees for the purpose of expanding and promoting high paying, fulfilling construction career pathways.
District Governing Board member Olivia Zepeda has been named to the ACCT Board of Directors. The three-year term will allow her the opportunity to advocate for students nationwide.
Arizona Western College District Governing Board is pleased to announce that Dr. Reetika Dhawan has been selected to serve as the 10th President of Arizona Western College following Dr. Daniel Corr’s retirement in July of 2026.
Last week, Arizona Western College’s leadership had the privilege of hosting the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) at its Yuma campus for a special board meeting. During the visit, AWC leadership was able to share on the state of Yuma’s agriculture and the ongoing partnership between AWC and Arizona’s state universities, as well as review the request for a Regents’ Research Grant to strengthen Arizona’s agriculture industry.
22 AWC nursing students were recently inducted into the Alpha Delta Nu-Iota Theta (IT) Chapter of the Organization of Associate Degree Nurses (OADN) Honor Society, demonstrating academic excellence and a commitment to service. This semester, the students gave back to the community through projects held at Amberly’s Place, the Yuma Community Food Bank, and the AWC Cubby.
Arizona Western College invites the community to the first AWC Fall Commencement on Friday, December 12th at 2 p.m. The outdoor event will be held at the Amphitheater of the Yuma Campus and will be livestreamed for those who would like to attend virtually.
On October 24th, Arizona Western College was honored to help host the fourth-annual consortium for Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) in Arizona. The conference brought together over 160 institutional administrators and faculty members to discuss best-practices for promoting equity and student success.
Arizona Western College Foundation invites the media this Friday to a check presentation as Quick Refrigeration establishes the Ricardo “Ric” Daniel Memorial HVAC Scholarship. The endowment will honor the life and legacy of Quick Refrigeration’s longtime General Manager, Ricardo Daniel, by supporting students interested in pursuing HVAC careers.
