Following nearly ten years of service to the Arizona Western College District, AWC President Dr. Daniel Corr has announced his retirement, effective July 2026. Dr. Corr’s retirement will conclude 34 years of dedicated service to community college education.
From October 20-24, Arizona Western College is hosting a variety of workshops and events for students to explore transfer options, speak with representatives from Arizona’s state universities, gain skills in financial literacy, and connect with employers from the Yuma community. A highlight of the week is the Yuma Transfer & Career Expo, which members of the community are invited to attend.
The AWC Continuing Education department has partnered with the AZ Community Tree Council to offer a full-scholarship arboriculture training program starting on October 20. Now accepting applications, the 8-week course offers students the opportunity to learn from local arborist professionals and gain job-ready skills in tree care.
The Arizona Western College Choirs are excited to present their fall concert, “The Power of Many,” on October 10th and 12th. AWC Choirs will be joined by the Cibola High School advanced choir to present an evening celebrating diversity through music.
Students from local high schools are invited to visit Arizona Western College over the coming weeks to attend the AWC High School Senior Days events, which provide students the opportunity to experience life on a college campus.
Arizona Western College’s Dr. Reetika Dhawan recently returned SEMICON Taiwan 2025 as a representative of the Arizona delegation, where she represented AWC’s innovative workforce pipeline, stackable micro-credentials, and forward-looking initiatives.

On September 23, Arizona Western College was proud to host Yuma County’s state elected officials at a public Town Hall where they reviewed the impact of the 2025 Legislative Session. The Town Hall highlighted recent accomplishments and changes in legislation affecting the Yuma community.
Arizona Western College is pleased to welcome Scott Gross as the new Sports Information Director for the Athletics Department. In his new role, the former KYMA-TV News Anchor and Sports Director will spearhead the promotion of Matador Athletics.
