TRIO Talent Search program to host block parties in Yuma, Wellton, & Parker

Yuma, AZ (September 28, 2021) – Community members are invited to join the Arizona Western College TRIO Talent Search program for block parties in Yuma and La Paz counties during the month of October.

Students and their families can find out more about the Talent Search program during these community outreach events, which will also feature games, music, food, and raffles.

  • Yuma: Friday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Center, 300 S. 13th Ave.
  • Wellton: Friday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Wellton Community Center, 10234 Dome St.
  • Parker: Friday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the AWC Parker Community Center, 1109 Geronimo Ave.

AWC’s Talent Search program focuses on low-cost, early intervention for students deemed to have “college potential” in middle school and high school. Talent Search students also receive information and assistance in applying for college admission, scholarships, and various student financial aid programs. AWC works with a current cohort of 583 students.

“Come out and have some fun while learning about the benefits and services TRIO Talent Search offers for students interested in going to college,” said AWC Director of TRIO Programs Michelle Thomas.
