November 16, 2021

Yuma, AZ (November 16, 2021) – The Arizona Western College Indigenous Student Association Club will be hosting a Native American Heritage Month Celebration on Monday, Nov. 22. The public event will be held from 11 am to 2 pm in the breezeway of the 3C Building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.

Participants will share traditional dance and song with the community, and artists will demonstrate bead and ceramic art traditions.  Speakers will discuss language and land preservation efforts, and various local social service agencies will also have booths available. Honored guests will include residents of the Cocopah and Quechan Tribes.

“This event celebrates the culture and history of the Quechan and Cocopah Tribes. We hope these activities will help educate the community about the contribution of Native people,” said Arturo Magaña, AWC Academic and Career Advisor.
