Lysistrata to be presented at AWC Amphitheater

Yuma, AZ (February 27, 2024) – The community is invited to a production of Lysistrata presented by the Arizona Western College Visual and Performing Arts Department.

Ellen McLaughlin’s modern retelling of the classic Greek comedy by Aristophanes is set in 411 B.C. In an effort to stop the seemingly endless wars, Greek women refuse love making until the men in their lives lay down their arms and proclaim peace. This play is rated PG13 and contains adult content and language.

Yuma, AZ (October 11, 2018) – The community is invited to come out and attend the Arizona Western College Theater performance of “Trifles,” a masterful blend of murder mystery and social commentary.

Farmer John Wright has been murdered, but the men investigating can't find any clues. John's wife, Minnie, is suspected of the murder.

Written in 1916 before women could vote or serve on juries, this one-act play is considered an early feminist masterpiece.

Students to Perform Theater Showcase “After Dark...”

Yuma, AZ (November 21, 2017) – Arizona Western College’s Theatre program will be performing student actor monologues and a student directed one-act play in their showcase “After Dark…”
The shows will be held at the AWC Theatre on the Yuma Main Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E, and will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 1.

Students from Acting One as well as Voice and Diction classes will be performing a variety of scenes and monologues selected from the work they have done throughout the semester.
