Aspiring musicians can sign up to use KAWC/KOFA tiny desk for NPR contest

Yuma, AZ (February 7, 2024) – The KAWC/KOFA team, in collaboration with the Video Production Department, is offering the use of their “tiny desk” in the new Matador Activity Center studios for aspiring musicians interested in entering a nationwide NPR competition.

AWC Community Band Presents Fall Concert

Yuma, AZ (October 8, 2019) - The Arizona Western College Community Band will be having its Fall Concert on Monday, October 21.

The performance will take place at 7 p.m. at Mary Elizabeth Post Auditorium, 400 W. 5th St.  Two of the featured compositions are “With Pleasure” by John Philip Sousa and “A Northern Legend” by Alfred Reed. 

The concert is free and open to the public of all ages. Donations will be accepted.

Lecture recital to feature music from women composers

Yuma, AZ (October 7, 2019) – Arizona Western College faculty and community members will be performing during an upcoming lecture recital on Sunday, Oct. 20.

“Moving Away from the Margins: Women Composers - Center Stage!” will feature both men and women playing music written by women composers. There will be a brass trio, a horn solo, a flute solo, a piano solo, a piano duet, and two vocal soloists.

AWC Fine Arts presents The Radio Active Variety Show

Yuma, AZ (November 12, 2018) – The Arizona Western College Fine Arts Department is teaming up to present music and theater to the community during The Radio Active Variety Show.

An annual fundraiser for scholarships, this year’s event will celebrate Irving Berlin: A Century of Song, featuring vocal and band music as well as short theatrical sketches and conversations in the style of a 1930’s radio show.

The shows will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the AWC Theatre, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.
