AWC confirms fourth staff case of COVID-19, temporarily shutters Yuma County campus locations

Yuma, AZ (May 28, 2020) – A fourth member of the college’s essential team tested positive for COVID-19 this week causing the college to temporarily send all essential employees home for 10 days, to return on Monday, June 8. Remote work by college employees will continue.

The ill employee is hospitalized in stable condition. This past Tuesday the college announced 3 positive cases from the same essential employee team. All three are resting at home, recuperating, and their teammates send best wishes to the four employees and their families.

School and Workplace Safety Public Presentation Announced

On Monday, September 11, Arizona Western College and U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground will partner on a public safety event. Ms. Kristina Anderson, professional speaker, director of Koshka Foundation for Safe Schools, and survivor of the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting will offer a 90-minute public presentation and take questions from the audience.

The 3:00 p.m. event will be held in the Schoening Conference Center on the Yuma campus of AWC, in the College Community Center (3C).
