AWC Director of TRIO Programs to preside over six chapters in western region, advocate at national level

Yuma, AZ (September 19, 2018) – Arizona Western College Director of TRIO Programs Michelle Thomas was elected to serve as the new 2018-2019 president for the Western Association of Educational Opportunity Personnel (WESTOP).

High school students to participate in five-week TRIO Upward Bound Camp

Yuma, AZ (May 23, 2018) – Fifty students from Yuma and La Paz high schools will be residing in Arizona Western College’s Residence Halls for five weeks as part of the TRIO Upward Bound Summer Camp.

Participants will attend classes such as math, English, science, foreign language, and electives in addition to evening activities to help them prepare for the upcoming academic year and become familiar with the college environment.
The camp will begin on May 29 and end on June 29. The students will stay on campus Sunday through Friday each week.

TRIO KEYS celebrating Student Support Services’ 50th anniversary

Yuma, AZ (February 21, 2018) – TRIO Student Support Services is currently celebrating 50 years of helping students across the U.S. achieve their academic goals. Arizona Western College’s TRIO KEYS Program, grant funded by Student Support Services, is kicking off local anniversary festivities with an Open House on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. The community is invited to attend the event, which will be held in the KEYS building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.

Students and graduates from Arizona Western College’s TRIO programs will participate in the 2017 AWC TRIO Day of Celebration on Wednesday, April 26th to express appreciation to the community for its support of the TRIO programs. For millions of students from low-income families who strive to be the first in their families to attend and graduate from college, seven federally funded programs called TRIO are making a world of difference.
