Community Band presents spring concert
April 10, 2024Yuma, AZ (April 11, 2024) – The Arizona Western College Community Band will present its second spring concert on Monday, May 6, featuring guest soloist Michael Becker.
Becker is the trombone instructor at the University of Arizona and principal trombonist for the Tucson Symphony Orchestra.
The performance will begin at 7:00pm in the North Wing of the Schoening Conference Center at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E. A campus map can be found here.
Community Band presents Grand Serenades

Community Band presents Christmas concert
November 14, 2023Yuma, AZ (November 14, 2023) – The public is invited to come out and enjoy a Christmas concert presented by the Arizona Western College Community Band on Monday, Dec. 4.
The performance will be held at 7:00pm in the North Wing of the Schoening Conference Center at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E, and will feature both Christmas music and other styles of concert music.
The event is free and open for the community to attend. Donations to benefit AWC Music Department scholarships will be accepted.
AWC Community Band to perform with Ballet Yuma
October 5, 2023Peter and the Wolf ballet to be presented alongside live music
Yuma, AZ (October 5, 2023) – The community is invited to an upcoming joint performance of “Peter and the Wolf” by the Arizona Western College Community Band and Ballet Yuma.
As part of the AWC Community Band’s fall concert, students will be performing musical compositions by Sergei Prokofiev alongside a choreographed ballet by Ballet Yuma. The “Peter and the Wolf” ballet has been performed at schools across Yuma County.
Community Band to present Fall Concert
October 13, 2022Yuma, AZ (October 13, 2022) – The Arizona Western College Community Band will be holding its Fall Concert on Monday, Oct. 17.
The title of the concert is “Summer Suite” and it will feature seven pieces. The performance will begin at 7 p.m. in the Schoening Conference Center located in the 3C Building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E.
The community is invited to attend this free concert. Donations will be accepted.
AWC Community Band to hold second spring concert
April 21, 2022Guest artist Rama Kumaran to be featured, host public clinic
Yuma, AZ (April 21, 2022) – The Arizona Western College Community Band will present its second concert of the spring semester on Monday, May 2.
The “Aeolian Tones” concert will be held at 7 p.m. in the Schoening Conference Center in the 3C Building at the AWC Yuma Campus, 2020 S. Ave. 8E. Internationally-respected flutist Rama Kumaran will be the guest artist for the performance.
AWC and Cibola High School bands to perform during joint concert
February 13, 2020Yuma, AZ (February 13, 2020) – The Arizona Western College Community Band will be teaming up with the Cibola High School band to put on a joint concert on Monday, March 9.
During the performance, AWC student Ivan Martinez will be performing the Concerto for Trumpet by Franz Joseph Haydn, as well as conducting his own composition, Blue Sky.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at Mary Elizabeth Post Auditorium, 400 W. 5th St.
All are welcome to attend as the event is free and open to the public.
AWC Community Band Presents Fall Concert
October 8, 2019Yuma, AZ (October 8, 2019) - The Arizona Western College Community Band will be having its Fall Concert on Monday, October 21.
The performance will take place at 7 p.m. at Mary Elizabeth Post Auditorium, 400 W. 5th St. Two of the featured compositions are “With Pleasure” by John Philip Sousa and “A Northern Legend” by Alfred Reed.
The concert is free and open to the public of all ages. Donations will be accepted.
